“Amada Caroline”, sound recordings for TSF Lisboa

Fifty years ago, on March 3, 1968, Roger Day was forced to stop broadcasting from the pirate radio installed on the offshore ship “Radio Caroline”. At that time, the BBC was only broadcasting 45 minutes of rock music a day. Despite numerous challenges and accidents, Radio Caroline has been incessantly broadcasting pop-rock music since 1964. On May 17, 2017, it was finally granted a license by the Uk government.

I worked as a sound recordist assistant for freelancer producer André Cunha, with whom I collaborate in various creative radio projects. We spend some days in the Ross Revenge boat, in the United Kingdom, where the historical pirate station Radio Caroline is currently placed. This documentary was commissioned for the 30th anniversary of the Portuguese radio station TSF, during February and March 2018.
